Labor Day Weekend Camping Trip

What an amazingly beautiful weekend we had!  The weather was perfect, we got to do some fun new things, & enjoy some of favorite traditions.  I can't believe we are already into September!

We started off Saturday leaving about 8:30.  Joe's parents joined us for the day.  We made great time getting to Savanna.  We arrived about 10:30, set up camp, ate lunch, then headed to Galena.  It was a little warm while we were downtown, but definitely tolerable, it could've been much worse!  We ended up stopping at the Galena Cellars Winery for a bottle of their Octoberfest & a jar of their garlic spiced pickles.  Two favorites!  We also stopped at the Galena Brewery for a flight of the seasonal beers.  Joe's dad sampled a ghost pepper hot sauce at the Galena Canning Co & desperately needed a soda, or 10.  We ended up calling it a day around 3:30.  Joe and I continued into Iowa to catch some of the Hawk's game at a bar called Flippers in Sabula & to check to see if our ceiling tile with our name on it was still there.   We also stopped at the Iron Horse where we renewed our vows last year.

Sunday we woke up, had breakfast, & headed to New Glarus Wisconsin.  We've been trying to get there for the last year or so and we finally made it.  We loved it!  It was like old Switzerland (I think they actually call it that).  We checked out their brewery, then headed down town for our free beer, compliments of the brewery & some lunch.  I also got to have some Blue Moon ice cream (it's almond flavored) for nostalgic purposes.  My favorite color has been blue my whole life, & for one of my birthday parties (I believe maybe 3 or 5, my aunt drove to Wisconsin to get me this ice cream so I had to have some).  Some friends met us back at the bar that we camped at and we just hung out for the rest of the night, enjoyed the fire & some beers.

Monday we decided to just wake up, have breakfast, tear down our spot, & come home.  We were home by 12:30 which was nice, we had all afternoon together to catch up on some shows & just relax.   Still can't believe that it's September already, I'm going to work on my fall decor this afternoon!  Hope everyone had an amazing weekend!

  2. I love cheese curds. They make my heart happy. It is probably a good thing I don't live in Wisconsin, I would eat them all the time.

    1. I love how they're just the cheese & nit battered, around here in Illinois they're always battered, so much better without!!
